New Generation iPod Games

Posted by: Admin In: iPod

Apple iTunes now has games compatible for the new Generation of iPods. For quite some time after the release of the new iPods, there have unsatisfied whispers as to why the games found in the iTunes Store are not compatible with them. Well, the wait is finally over.

During the launch, a special event held in San Francisco dubbed “The Beat Goes On”; Apple CEO Steve Jobs first indicated that games for the new iPods will be available in a few weeks. After almost three weeks since the release of the new generation iPods, Apple iTunes store now has a selection of games for the new gadgets.

There are games that come with the iPods upon purchase. These are: iQuiz, Klondike and Vortex. These games are just refurbished versions of the old games: iQuiz for MusicQuiz, Vortex for Bricks and what you used to know as solitaire is now Klondike. Parachute seems to have been erased from the roster. Not too much of a loss.

With the release of the new iPods, the question has always been. Why won’t the old games for the iPod work for the new generation release. If the new technology used for the 5th generation iPods equals or exceeds the old iPods. Then there should be no reason why the old games should be rendered obsolete. Perhaps, in the future, updates will be made to fresh newer iPods released, enabling them to support the older generation of games.

Three games have been released: Tetris, Ms. Pacman and Sudoku. The first two are classic names and have been around for some time. The Sudoku game is a digital adaptation of a popular puzzle game in which the player must fill in a grid so that every row, every column, and every 3×3 box contains the digits 1 to 9. All three games are different from the games that come with the iPod Nanos and Classic. Apple promises to add more games to their roster, and with the release of these three, they are on their way.

The games offered work with the iPod Classic and iPod Nano, and are also compatible with the older iPod versions like the iPod Video. There are still no available games for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, but it can be expected that Apple will be releasing them soon to satisfy the iPod Touch and the iPhone owners.

If you want more games for your new iPods, you can then head over to the iTunes store and buy these new games. Unfortunately, if you have already purchased the older versions of these games, you still have to buy the new ones that are compatible with your new iPod. The games go for $4.99 US a pop. For the iPhone and iPod touch owners out there, it won’t be long till Apple comes up with games for you units, but its best not to hold your breath.
